Council advises of upcoming changed traffic conditions for Tom Collins Drive to allow for bank stabilisation and remediation works along the Goulburn River.
The works are expected to commence in late February and run through to March 2024, and are required after damage was caused to the river bank during the October 2022 Flood Event.
During this time, the Goulburn River bank directly adjacent to Tom Collins Drive and the Aquamoves Leisure Facility, underwent subsidence and erosion which has compromised the integrity of the bank and creates potential risk of further damage to the surrounding infrastructure if left untreated.
After working with the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (GBCMA), Parks Victoria, Goulburn Murray Water and acting on Engineering advice, Council has procured and engaged a local contractor, APEX Earthworks, who are suitably qualified and experienced to complete the river bank repair works.
It is anticipated these works will be undertaken over a 4 week period throughout mid-February into March 2024. The works will require the installation of traffic controls on Tom Collins Drive and restricted/limited car parking adjacent to Aquamoves during this time. The traffic management and restricted parking will enable sufficient access and “space” for the large machinery and equipment to compete the river bank works, whilst providing for the safety of users of the precinct.
We ask the public to please obey all traffic and pedestrian management arrangements that will be in place during this time.
