Council launches recruitment day to address Swim Instructor shortages

Greater Shepparton City Council is gearing up to host a recruitment day event for those interested in becoming a Swim Instructor, to address workforce shortages at Aquamoves Swim School.

The recruitment day, set to take place on Tuesday 23 July 2024 at Aquamoves, will involve a simplified job application process aimed at making the experience more accessible for those interested in becoming a Swim Instructor.

The recruitment day will provide an inclusive and relaxed environment for candidates to apply, through a practical component and informal conversations with Council staff. Sessions will be held at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm, with each session lasting approximately one hour. Registrations are essential.

Aquamoves Coordinator Programs and Education, Liliana Angeles, said she is looking forward to chatting with potential employees at the event and assisting them with a fast-tracked recruitment process.

"Our Swim Instructors are essential in teaching vital water safety skills to our community. These roles have a significant impact on saving lives around water,” she said.

“Whether you are experienced, a recent graduate, transitioning to retirement or seeking a career change, we have a place for you at Aquamoves Swim School. The event will offer an informal, pressure free and interactive environment.”

Aquamoves Leisure Services Officer Swim Instructor, Ann Mercaldi, said working at Aquamoves Swim School is extremely rewarding and a role she thoroughly enjoys.

“Having worked as a Swim Instructor, I can say that it is an incredibly fulfilling job. Every day we help individuals learn essential water safety skills and build their confidence in the water. I encourage anyone interested to attend the recruitment day and discover how impactful and rewarding this career can be,” she said.
