Greater Shepparton City Council is holding a series of summer strolls in small towns throughout January, February and March.
The summer strolls are being held in Merrigum, Tatura, Dookie, Undera and Katandra West.
Council's Leisure Facilities Officer Carmen Nicholson said the summer strolls have been modelled on the popular twilight stroll.
"At each stroll we will have activities for the kids and free barbecues with healthy food options," Ms Nicholson said.
"The strolls will involve a walk around each town, finishing at a recreation reserve or swimming pool.
"The strolls are a fantastic activity for the whole family - parents can bring small children in prams or they can ride bikes."
The first strolls are scheduled for Merrigum and Tatura and will include a walk around the township and will finish at the respective pools. Entry is free into the pool for all those who have registered at the stroll and there will be the large pool inflatables and family games.
There will be a healthy choices barbeque and apple slinkies to keep the kids energised.
