Days Mill, the historic flour mill at Murchison will host a free screening of the classic Australian tale by Banjo Paterson, The Man from Snowy River on Saturday 1 December as part of the Summer Film Festival.
Now in its third year, the Summer Film Festival is the perfect opportunity to gather family and friends with pillows, rugs, chairs and a picnic for a relaxing night out under the stars with a giant eight-metre outdoor screen.
Greater Shepparton City Council's Manager Arts, Events and Tourism Carrie Donaldson said Council was proud to be able to present the outdoor film festival again this year and to provide free family-friendly entertainment options for the whole community.
"The summer film festival is one of many family-friendly activities in the Activities in the Park program that Council and Parks Victoria provide over summer to encourage locals and visitors to get outdoors, get active and spend time together in our parks and open spaces.
"This is an exciting development for the 2012/13 Summer Film Festival season with the screening here at Days Mill, Murchison and also in Dookie 23 February. We are also exploring options to include other small towns in the Summer Film Festival schedule for future years."
Day's Mill, named after original owners William and Anne Day, is the best preserved 19th century flour mill in Victoria. The property includes the mill, house and farm buildings that provide a fascinating insight into years gone by.
A free shuttle bus will be available at 7pm to transport people from Murchison to Days Mill and the screening will commence at 8pm
The other screening nights for the Summer Film Festival will be on 26 January (Australia Day) in Shepparton, 23 February in Dookie and 10 March in Shepparton during the SheppARTon Festival. For more information visit www.discovershepparton.com.au
