The success of the women only bathing sessions at Aquamoves has led to the Greater Shepparton City Council introducing men only bathing sessions and recommencing the women only bathing sessions in 2006.
The Single Gender Bathing program will continue to operate outside of Aquamoves’ regular operating hours and normal entry charges will apply.
The men only bathing sessions will be conducted on Saturdays, beginning 18 March and the women only bathing sessions will be conducted on Sundays, beginning 19 March, with both sessions running from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Aquamoves Centre Manager, Leanne Mulcahy, says the program is reflective of the needs of the Greater Shepparton community and continues to be well supported.
“In 2005 the centre investigated the feasibility of offering men only bathing sessions, and conducted a number of trial sessions. The response to these sessions was well received and attendance was high,” says Ms Mulcahy.
“Aquamoves was recently granted an exemption from the Equal Opportunity Commission to conduct men only bathing sessions, which we will be implementing this year,” says Ms Mulcahy.
“The Single Gender Bathing program offers a great opportunity for women and men who feel comfortable using the pools, spas and hydrotherapy pool in a single gender environment,” says Ms Mulcahy.
