The Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to support the Seemore’s Challenge to raise funds for Worksafe Kids being launched at Aquamoves on Friday 10th September.
Acting Mayor, Cr Kevin Ryan, said the challenge involves many different sectors of the community, while at the same time improving their health and wellbeing, and raising much needed funds for a worthy cause.
Worksafe KIDS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing childhood injuries by developing primary school based safety education programs.
The challenge encourages schools and businesses to complete the distance of an Ironman Triathlon over the period of one month. Local businesses will join together with their partnered primary school to complete the distance of a 3.8km swim, 180km ride and 42.2km run or walk.
“The Council and Aquamoves support community involvement in activities that will have direct health benefits and simultaneously build social connectedness. The Seemore’s Challenge has the added advantage in that it will raise funds for a not for profit organisation.”
More than 200 participants will join SeeMore’s Challenge in the Goulburn Valley region, including employees from Nestle, HW Greenhams, Unilever and Tatura Milk, as well as local primary schools.
“Each participant will obtain the Council’s supported by receiving a free 12 visit pass from Aquamoves,” Cr Ryan added.
SeeMore’s Challenge will be launched at Aquamoves in Shepparton on Friday 10th September at 10.15 am. Event ambassador and marathon runner
Steve Moneghetti will be attending the launch.
