The cream of Victorian country swimming will compete at Aquamoves when the Victorian Country Long Course Swimming Championships come to town on Friday 20 January.
The three day event is expected to attract hundreds of swimmers and spectators from country Victoria and southern New South Wales.
Aquamoves Operations Coordinator Steve Wilson says the championships are a great opportunity for the region to experience competitive swimming at its best.
“In August 2005 we hosted the two day Victorian Country Short Course Swimming Championships which saw hundreds of swimmers compete,” says Mr Wilson.
“Being selected to host the championships is fantastic for the region as it helps to boost tourism and the local economy,” he says.
“It’s great to be able to attract events like this to Shepparton as it proves that Aquamoves is a leading sporting facility in country Victoria,” adds Mr Wilson.
“The championships are being held in the outdoor 50 metre pool so the event will have a great atmosphere and will really highlight the quality of swimming the region is producing,” says Mr Wilson.
The Victorian Country Long Course Swimming Championships are being hosted by the Goulburn Valley and District Amateur Swimming Association and will be held at Aquamoves on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January 2006.
The outdoor pool will not be available for public use during this time, however all of Aquamoves indoor pool and gym facilities will operate as normal.
