Hundreds of swimmers and visitors from across regional Victoria and southern New South Wales will converge on Aquamoves later this month for the Victorian Country Short Course Championships.
Aquamoves Manager Leanne Mulcahy says the championships provide an opportunity to showcase the high class facilities at the centre.
“The event also recognises Aquamoves as a leading sporting facility with the ability to host major swimming events, such as the Victorian Country Championships being held in January 2006,” Ms Mulcahy said.
“Hosting the championships is a boost to local tourism and businesses as additional visitors will be attracted to the Shepparton region,” she said.
Goulburn Valley and District Swimming Association’s David Reed says the event will promote high quality swimming over the course of the championships as competitors were required to qualify for the event.
“This should make for an exciting weekend of action packed swimming and we urge spectators to come and watch Victoria’s and southern New South Wales’ rising stars,” says Mr Reed.
The Country Short Course Championships will begin with an opening address at 9.00 am by Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Cr Anne McCamish on Saturday 27th August.
The Victorian Country Short Course Championships are hosted by the Goulburn Valley and District Swimming Association and will be held at Aquamoves on Saturday 27th August with events beginning from 10.00 am and continuing on Sunday.
