The 2011 Victorian Country Shortcourse Championships will be held in Shepparton on 13 and 14 August.
The event, to be held at Aquamoves, will see 500 competitors take part in the two-day competition.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Geoff Dobson said hosting the event for the second straight year was a coup for the region.
"The influx of visitors also provides a tremendous boost for the local economy. Council's Events and Promotions Branch estimates that the flow on effect to the local economy is worth between $400,000 and $500,000, which is just fantastic," Cr Dobson said.
"There was a fantastic atmosphere at last year's championships with more than 1000 people making it along to watch events."
Entry is $10 for a day or $15 for a weekend pass, with concession $5 for a day and $10 for a weekend pass.
The event is run by the Goulburn Valley and District Swimming Association in conjunction with Swimming Victoria. Greater Shepparton City Council is a major sponsor of the event and Aquamoves' staff members play an important role in assisting the event organisers.
