Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with Parks Victoria is running its popular Yoga in the Park program at Victoria Park Lake from Saturday 3 November.

Yoga in the Park is part of the Activities in the park program which encourages community members to get active and enjoy the parks in Greater Shepparton

Council's Leisure Facilities Officer Carmen Nicholson said yoga is fantastic as a gentle form of exercise.

"Hatha Yoga is a medium paced, holistic yoga class with emphasis on awareness, alignment and balance," Ms Nicholson said.

"This weather is fantastic and I encourage people to get out and enjoy it and get fit and healthy at the same time.

"Yoga in the Park was very well received by the community earlier this year with more than 450 participants taking part in the program."

"There are many events happening between now and March next year as part of the Activities in the Park program, including summer strolls, film festivals, stargazing, canoeing and heaps more," Ms Nicholson said.

"We have already held two very successful events as part of Activities in the Park in Ride2Work Day and the Twilight Stroll and we look forward to people getting out and enjoying all we have to offer."

Yoga in the Park is running for the next four Saturdays, between 8am and 9am at Victoria Park Lake. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat (or towel) and a drink bottle.
