Aquamoves members and learn to swim lesson participants will be compensated for the week-long closure of Aquamoves (from 3pm Monday 6 to Sunday 12 September) due to flooding of Tom Collins Drive last week.

Aquamoves Centre Manager Lindy Baldi said during the closure, members and regular swim lesson users were not able to make use of the regular services, therefore Council is compensating members with extra time, make-up lessons or a discount depending on their particular membership.

"People have been very patient and understanding about the closure and compensating those people who have already paid in advance and were not able to use the centre is the right thing to do," Ms Baldi said.

"With Aquamoves receiving around 11,000 visits a week at this time of the year, there is no doubt the closure has impacted a lot of people.

"It is estimated that the unavoidable closure has caused an income loss of around $47,000 to the centre."

Ms Baldi continued by saying Aquamoves is notifying users and affected families about individual compensations and make up lessons.

"For people who are term members or visit pass holders, Aquamoves is adding an extra week to the end of the expiry date.

"Members who pay by direct debit will have their next fortnightly payment halved and for those participants that had their Learn to Swim classes cancelled, a makeup lesson will be held during the second week of the school holidays.

"However because the Learn to Swim lessons will be held in the second week of the school holidays, general public access to the pool will be limited.

"Unfortunately this means there will be times where the indoor pool will be busier than usual and the water features will not be running at some stages through the day.

"We know this may inconvenience some people, but are sure people will understand given the circumstances."

During the second week of the school holidays the water slide, rapid river and the tarzan swing will be running Monday to Friday from 12noon until 3.30pm and then again after 6.00pm and on Saturday from 12.30pm.
