Mooroopna Secondary College students show colours at annual swimming carnival.

Aquamoves was a sea of green, red, yellow and blue on Friday as Mooroopna Secondary College’s house teams swam it out during its annual swimming carnival.

The carnival had about 330 students hit the water to compete in a range of different swimming events, such as freestyle, backstroke and even a relay.

Assistant principal Steve Bolton said the school was greeted with great weather for the carnival. He said like many schools, Mooroopna Secondary College had always had a popular swimming event.

‘‘I think it creates a great school atmosphere,’’ he said. ‘‘It builds that sense of belonging to a school and also to a house.’’

The school named its houses after flowers with Banksia being blue, Boronia yellow, Heath green and Waratah red.

Each student is allocated a house when they start Year 7.

Mr Bolton said at the end of the race, it was not all about winning. He said it was great to see plenty of students participating and working with each other as part of a team.
