Greater Shepparton City Council is offering free health checks to residents aged over 18 and not working full time as part of the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton program.

The sessions are conducted by a registered nurse and include a waist measurement, BMI, blood pressure and a series of questions relating to physical activity, nutrition, smoking, alcohol and oral health.

Council's Healthy Communities Coordinator Belinda Conna said the checks will encourage people to make small changes to their diet and lifestyle to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

"By changing eating and exercise habits, people may find that they have more energy and feel better about themselves," Ms Conna said.

"It is never too late to change your habits, so I encourage people to take advantage of these free health checks."

The health checks are part of Council's Get Mooving Greater Shepparton program, which also includes a range of programs including Beat It!, Heart Foundation Walking, community gardens and many more.
