Drainage

The Shepparton drainage scheme was not designed to cope with the tropical style rain events we experienced last night and as a consequence, we experience minor flooding during and after these events. Council is currently working on long term solutions to manage significant rainfall events such as this.

Council has a $1.1m urban and rural drainage renewal budget with 27 projects to be delivered across urban, semi-urban and rural areas by 30 June 2013.

It is expected that the water will dissipate from the affected areas over the next 2-4 days.

Falling trees

Winds combined with long dry spell followed by major rain event mean that trees are a problem with falling trees and falling limbs.
Council asks residents to take care, especially when walking or driving at night.

Animals

Council's community rangers picked up a number of animals due to the storm, so please contact the Shelter on 5832 9794 if your pets are missing.

Inundation

Residents can access sandbags from Council's Operations Depot on Doyles Road.

If residents have water inundation, please contact SES on 132 500.

Residents are asked not to drive through flooded roads as the wash created is causing property damage.

Events

The Moira Park Summer Stroll scheduled for Friday 1 March has been cancelled.
