Aquamoves outdoor redevelopment will be moving forward after two tender contracts were awarded at today’s ordinary Council meeting.

The first contract was for the design and construction of the splash park and water features and the second was for the construction of a new outdoor leisure pool.

Council's Manager Aquatic Services Tony Tranter said the tenders also included landscaping works throughout the outdoor area.

"This is part of stage one of the Aquamoves redevelopment, which also included the renovation and expansion of the dry area," Mr Tranter said.

"These works include construction of the splash park and leisure pool as well as landscaping works and construction of the barbecue areas.

"The projects have received $1 million for from the Victorian Government's Department for Planning and Community Development under the ‘Better Pools' Program.

"These upgrades will ensure Aquamoves continues to be one of the premier aquatic facilities in Victoria.

"It is hoped works will begin shortly, with the new splash park and leisure pool set to be open in time for 2009/2010 summer season."
