Aquamoves is currently on a crusade to spread the incredible benefits of exercise for older adults; specifically those aged 60 and over.

Aquamoves Fitness Instructors Linda McKenzie and Joe Gilberto are hitting the road in Council’s ‘Get Mooving Van’ to visit a variety of Over 60s clubs and groups in the Greater Shepparton region. The pair will be speaking about the importance of exercise as we age and taking participants through some simple and effective fitness routines.

Aquamoves Centre Manager Marcus Cook says that while it’s important for people of all ages to get moving and be active on a regular basis, there are some very specific benefits for those in the over 60 age bracket.

“With regular physical activity, over 60’s can strengthen muscle and enhance flexibility, coordination and balance, which are all very important in helping to maintain mobility.”

“There is also an exciting and growing pool of literature reinforcing the fact that exercise can improve memory and mood while increasing energy, attention and focus – all things we find more difficult to retain as we get older”, Mr Cook said.

Aquamoves has some great incentives for those aged 60 and older to get active, with a heavily discounted membership special and free ‘Health and Wellbeing Support Plans’ on offer during the month of April.
