Greater Shepparton’s Activities in the Park program kicks off next week, with more than 150 free activities scheduled between October and March.

Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan encouraged people to get involved in the activities.

"There really is something for the whole family, with yoga, older adults strength training, beginners guide to vegie gardens, canoeing on the river, kite making and old family favourites including the twilight strolls, spotlight walks and the Summer Film Festival," Cr Houlihan said.

"This year we have introduced new activities including native treasure hunts, skate workshops and ukulele playing.

"Those who live in Shepparton and Mooroopna won't be the only ones who will enjoy this program with a large amount of events scheduled in our small towns.

"The best part about the program is all the activities are free for the whole community to participate in.

"The activities have been scheduled to take advantage of the warmer weather in the coming months and will be held right across Greater Shepparton.

"The program focuses on engaging people in their local parks, encouraging physical activity and also binding our strong community together."

Program booklets are available at various locations including Council Offices, Visitor Information Centre, Aquamoves, KidsTown and the Sports Stadium. They will also be available in small towns at key locations throughout the township.
